THE CHALLENGE.
The nonprofit world often faces significant barriers, such as complex systems, lack of resources, and an exclusive environment that stifles innovation and leaves diverse voices unheard. Many visionary leaders with bold ideas for positive change struggle to start or grow their organizations due to these systemic challenges, limiting their ability to make a lasting impact.
In early 2024, we took action to create The Gryphon Foundation for Global Change, a nonprofit dedicated to helping visionary leaders worldwide overcome barriers to entry, support them through incubation and launch phases, and guide their expansions.



OUR STRATEGY.
PhoenixFire Strategic Consulting partnered with The Gryphon Foundation from its inception, creating every aspect of the organization from scratch. From developing the name to articulating the Mission and Vision, navigating the bureaucratic maze of incorporation and nonprofit status with the IRS, and crafting a strategy for sustainability, we built something extraordinary from absolutely nothing.
This case study highlights our approach, the steps we took, and the groundbreaking results of our collaboration.


Defining the Vision and Mission: We collaborated with Gryphon’s founding board to craft a Mission and Vision that reflect their goal of dismantling barriers for nonprofit leaders globally.
This foundational step shaped all aspects of the organization’s identity and strategy, ensuring a clear and inspiring purpose.

Establishing Nonprofit Status and Compliance: PhoenixFire managed all incorporation tasks, from filing forms to securing 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, ensuring Gryphon met all regulatory requirements. This included building systems for ongoing compliance, ensuring long-term operational stability.




BRAND DESIGN.
The brand design for The Gryphon Foundation reflects the organization’s core values of inclusivity, creativity, and transformative impact. Every element of the visual identity was carefully chosen to embody their mission of empowering nonprofit leaders worldwide.
The color scheme centers around shades of green, symbolizing growth, healing, and renewal, as values that align with Gryphon’s goal of fostering meaningful change.
Accent colors in warm tones, like yellow and red, bring energy, optimism, and a sense of human connection to the design, emphasizing the warmth and approachability of the organization.

BRAND KIT.
We developed a detailed brand kit that serves as a foundational resource for all visual and written communications. The brand kit covers every aspect of Gryphon’s identity, from logo usage and color palettes to typography, graphic elements, and messaging guidelines.
It includes clear instructions on how to use design elements like watercolor splashes, scribbles, and textured backgrounds, as well as best practices for applying logos in different formats and on various backgrounds. The brand kit also outlines Gryphon’s distinct writing style and voice, ensuring consistency across all platforms and materials.



Building a Comprehensive Resource Library: A cornerstone of Gryphon’s mission is providing resources to new and growing nonprofits. We helped develop a robust library of educational materials, multilingual guides, and cohort-based training programs to empower nonprofit leaders with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.
Website Creation: These resources are seamlessly integrated into Gryphon’s website, which was designed to serve as a user-friendly hub that reflects their mission and engages nonprofit leaders worldwide. With intuitive navigation, the site highlights Gryphon’s programs, resources, and opportunities for involvement, inspiring visitors to take action.
Creating a Dynamic Funding Strategy: We designed and built Gryphon’s donation platform, developed a recurring giving campaign, and launched a comprehensive fundraising strategy to ensure sustainable funding.
Our grant research, prospecting, and writing efforts leveraged best practices and advanced tools to secure critical funding for Gryphon’s future growth.



OUR MESSAGING.
We collaborated with The Gryphon Foundation to create a compelling launch video that highlights their mission to dismantle barriers for nonprofit leaders. The messaging focused on the challenges these leaders face, the transformative resources Gryphon provides, and the crucial role of supporters in driving change.
Through a mix of impactful stories, key statistics, and a strong call to action, the video connected emotionally with viewers, inspiring them to join Gryphon’s mission. We are proud of Gryphon’s exceptional work on this video, which stands as a powerful example of effective storytelling and strategic communication.

SOCIAL MEDIA.
We built The Gryphon Foundation’s social media presence to amplify their mission and connect with a global audience. Using cohesive visuals like watercolor splashes and warm accents, paired with inspiring messaging, we created a welcoming and impactful aesthetic.
Our strategy balanced educational content, success stories, and calls to action, fostering community engagement and driving measurable results. By leveraging analytics and audience insights, we ensured each post resonated and expanded Gryphon’s reach as a trusted nonprofit resource.


THE GRYPHON.
At the heart of The Gryphon Foundation’s identity is its namesake logo, the gryphon—a mythical creature symbolizing courage, wisdom, and strength.
Carefully chosen, it embodies the foundation’s mission to empower nonprofit leaders to overcome barriers and drive change. The gryphon’s design blends elegance with power, reflecting the resilience of the leaders it supports.

The Gryphon Foundation is now a fully operational and well-branded nonprofit equipped to create global impact.
